Psalm 49:6 (ESV)

6 those who trust in their wealth and boast of the abundance of their riches?

The wrongdoers trust in their abilities; they flaunt their riches. The author sees for himself and his listeners another trust factor. And his listeners are all peoples (see Psalm 49:1–2). Do not trust in riches, but in God. We read that, starting with Psalm 49:15: God rules over life and death. Therefore, do not be afraid of people, however rich or mighty they may be. In the end, it does not benefit you: when you die, your possessions go to others (see Psalm 49:10).
