Worship that is pleasing and acceptable to the Lord cannot be separated from the person who offers it. Too often Israel focused on offering the right sacrifices, at the right place, in the right manner, and at the right times. But their hearts and their daily lives were not in accordance with what God demanded. For our worship to be right and acceptable to God, both the elements of worship as well as the worshipper (inwardly and outwardly) must be in accordance with God’s revealed will.
4 Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasing to the LORD as in the days of old and as in former years.
