1. Isaiah 20:6 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

What is the message of the prophecy in Isaiah 20?

Isaiah 20:6 (ESV)

6 And the inhabitants of this coastland will say in that day, ‘Behold, this is what has happened to those in whom we hoped and to whom we fled for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria! And we, how shall we escape?’”

Although Isaiah prophesied about the inhabitants of Philistia, Egypt, and Cush, the message was aimed at the Judahites who misplaced their trust and sought help from other nations. Prophets interpret the times they live in, but also shine a light on God’s plans for the future. The Judahites, and us today, should trust in the Lord only.
