The text we are considering has clear references to the second coming of Jesus Christ as Judge (2 Timothy 4:1, John 5:22; Acts 10:42; Acts 17:31). His coming will be welcomed by those who have embraced him in faith as their Lord and Saviour, for they will be vindicated and glorified at his coming. His coming will cause those who have rejected him to be terrified, for by their rejection of Christ, they are guilty of having pierced him themselves (Revelation 1:7). They will bewail their condemnation.
2 But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall.
