Why is (only) the law of Moses mentioned?

Malachi 4:4 (ESV)

4 “Remember the law of my servant Moses, the statutes and rules that I commanded him at Horeb for all Israel.

Of all the great prophets mentioned in the Old Testament, only Moses and his writings are mentioned. Why is that? The reason is likely because the Law given through Moses was foundational for all that the later prophets wrote. All the words of the prophets who came after Moses, and all their writings are all built upon the foundation laid by Moses. The remaining thirty-four books of the Old Testament are based on the first five books that Moses wrote. This highlights the fact that a good understanding of the first five books of the Bible is foundational to a good understanding of the rest of Scripture.
