Although many of the Mosaic laws are not longer applicable in the New Testament, the moral commands of God’s covenant law remain in force. We must worship the Lord God and no other! We must worship him in spirit and truth. We must glorify him and give him the honour which is due to him. We must worship him on the Lord’s Day. We must honour those in authority. We must love our neighbour, and seek his well-being. We must be faithful both within and outside of holy marriage. We exercise good stewardship of the material possessions God has given us, and respect and protect our neighbour’s possessions. We must love and speak the truth uprightly, in every sphere of society life. We must learn to be content with the blessings God has given us. These are briefly the foundational laws of the covenant, the intimate relationship that God has formed with us. Out of gratitude to God for his gracious redemption, we must strive to live with God in this intimate relationship in accordance with his covenant law. We do well to examine ourselves regularly and remind ourselves of the rules that God has laid down for life within the covenant of grace.
