How does Christ show his love and care for his people in the appointment of the twelve disciples?

Matthew 10:2–4 (ESV)

2 The names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

Jesus Christ will return to heaven after his resurrection. Yet his message will still need to be spread on earth. Therefore, he chooses twelve disciples who receive thorough teaching and special powers from him. They learn how to make his message known. First in Israel, and later worldwide (Matthew 28:19). God remains faithful to the people he once chose and, through them, he is also faithful to the whole world.
