The Judaizers were likely claiming that Paul received his gospel from the apostles in Jerusalem and then proceeded to distort what he had received. However, Paul wants to emphasize that he did not consult anyone about the revelation which he received on the road to Damascus.1 He knew without a doubt that he had been called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ, and he also knew the message that he was to proclaim.2 His message of grace and faith is one that also underlies Jesus’ teaching (Matthew 20:1–16; Luke 15:11–32; Luke 18:9–14).3
