Samson clearly has scorn for the covenant of grace. Israel was clearly instructed not to intermarry with non-Israelites (see Exodus 34:15–16; Deuteronomy 7:1–3; Judges 2:2; Judges 3:5–6). Samson’s marriage is exogamous: twice in the first two verses of this chapter we are told that this woman was one of the “daughters of the Philistines.”
2 Then he came up and told his father and mother, “I saw one of the daughters of the Philistines at Timnah. Now get her for me as my wife.”
