29 Then the Spirit of the LORD was upon Jephthah, and he passed through Gilead and Manasseh and passed on to Mizpah of Gilead, and from Mizpah of Gilead he passed on to the Ammonites.
25 And the Spirit of the LORD began to stir him in Mahaneh-dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.
At certain moments in the accounts of the final three major judges it is clearly stated that the Spirit of the Lord was upon them—or, rather, came down upon them—enabling them to do powerful deeds for the benefit and deliverance of the people of Israel. The Spirit came down upon Gideon (Judges 6:34), Jephthah (Judges 11:29), and Samson (Judges 13:25; Judges 14:6, Judges 14:19; Judges 15:14).
34 But the Spirit of the LORD clothed Gideon, and he sounded the trumpet, and the Abiezrites were called out to follow him.
