What is the concern in his parents’ response?

Judges 14:3 (ESV)

3 But his father and mother said to him, “Is there not a woman among the daughters of your relatives, or among all our people, that you must go to take a wife from the uncircumcised Philistines?” But Samson said to his father, “Get her for me, for she is right in my eyes.”

His parents’ response is one of pain and disappointment. They are essentially saying, “What, Samson? Is there no woman at all among your people? Is the whole covenant community completely devoid of all women, that you can only find females elsewhere, in pagan territory? Any covenant woman would certainly be better than marrying this foreigner!” His parents no doubt lived with great expectations of his life. His marrying a Philistine was not part of their expectations.
