It is likely Samson did not tell his parents the source of his food because he knew it was wrong for him to scrape honey from a corpse, and so did his parents. This appears to be a deliberate scheme to trick his parents into breaking Yahweh’s covenanted laws with his people…. There was an utter lack of concern on Samson’s part not only for his own ritually unclean state, but for that of others as well.
