Revelation of God the Son

1 Samuel 15:1–35 (ESV)

1 And Samuel said to Saul, “The LORD sent me to anoint you king over his people Israel; now therefore listen to the words of the LORD.

What does 1 Samuel 15 reveal about what God does in my place and on my behalf (the work of the Son)? Jesus Christ is the only true and righteous man who ever lived. He alone kept God’s law perfectly. He alone will be able to stand in the Day of Judgment. Being an innocent man, he could die to pay for the sins of other men. Being God, he could bear the burden of God’s wrath against sin without being destroyed. United to him by faith, his death is considered my death and his righteousness my righteousness so that I, too, can be sure of salvation on the day when Christ returns again in glory.
