Why did Saul refer to the LORD as the God of Samuel?
1 Samuel 15:21 (ESV)
21But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the best of the things devoted to destruction, to sacrifice to the LORD your God in Gilgal.”
Saul’s choice of language suggests a distance between him and the Lord. He realized that Samuel was the Lord’s prophet and thus he associated the Lord with Samuel. But for himself, he did not identify as one of the Lord’s servants.
