What is striking about Samson's decided object of revenge?

Judges 15:3 (ESV)

3 And Samson said to them, “This time I shall be innocent in regard to the Philistines, when I do them harm.”

For the loss of his wife to his so-called companion, Samson swears revenge. But he swears it not on his wife’s father. Instead, he vows to harm the Philistines. He seemingly takes the father’s action as representative of the attitude of the Philistines toward him.
