Proverbs 13:10 (ESV)

10 By insolence comes nothing but strife, but with those who take advice is wisdom.

The word insolence means to be rude and disrespectful. An insolent person is a contentious, know-it-all, full of pride and self-centred individual with a superior attitude. He will display his insolence by being quick to quarrel and unwilling to agree with anyone with a different point of view to his. Such a person will be the cause of strife and conflict. But a person who takes advice from someone else will gain wisdom which will result in them being quick to swallow their pride and not display any insolence that will cause strife.
