Eliphaz feels certain that the comforts
that he and his friends had offered Job had come from God himself. After all, Eliphaz has received a special revelation from God, or at least so he thinks (Job 4:12–17). By rejecting the words of his friends, Job had (so Eliphaz believes) rejected God himself. This is the ultimate form of arrogance.
11 Are the comforts of God too small for you, or the word that deals gently with you?
