This verse looks back. It says that the Lord, unlike people in power, is an eternal King. However powerful people may be, they are mortal and cannot give (us) salvation. That is why the Lord is the only One who is to be trusted. Note that the singular used in Psalm 146:2 (I
) is now replaced with the plural: the covenant people are called upon to trust the Lord and honour him. The psalm ends with the word with which it started, Hallelujah,
and that means: praise the Lord! When you realize what has been said about the Lord in the preceding part, this Hallelujah sounds even more powerful.
10 The LORD will reign forever, your God, O Zion, to all generations. Praise the LORD!
