The individual confession in Psalm 20:6 (Now I know
) becomes a joint confession in this verse, for here it says we.
While in battle, people who do not know God put their trust in military power. And in those days, chariots and horses were the strongest military means.
But in this verse, the believers (the king and the people) say that they "trust in the name of the Lord.” Do note that it says, the name of the Lord.
That name is Yahweh and that means he who is with us. That presence points to his powerful and helping presence. That is more than any other military means of power.
7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
