It is not the buying and selling of wares as such that is judged here. It is the way in which Tyre conducted her business which caused her to be labelled a prostitute. Tyre’s purpose was to increase wealth at all costs, with no thought for the kingdom of God.
17 At the end of seventy years, the LORD will visit Tyre, and she will return to her wages and will prostitute herself with all the kingdoms of the world on the face of the earth.
