1. 1 Samuel 24:15 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

When did the LORD vindicate David and thereby judge between him and Saul?

1 Samuel 24:15 (ESV)

15 May the LORD therefore be judge and give sentence between me and you, and see to it and plead my cause and deliver me from your hand.”

With David’s prayer to the Lord, a legal case had been opened between him and Saul—a case in which the Lord had to adjudicate. One that would be concluded with the death of Saul (1 Samuel 31:1–13) and David’s rise to the throne of Israel (2 Samuel 4:8; 2 Samuel 5:5).1
