At times there is a temptation to fall within the status quo of today’s world in order to avoid what we perceive as persecution. It is true that seeking to live righteously will sometimes lead to hostile attacks—the world around us does not accept the principles that shape the decisions and the direction of Christians.
In South Africa, Christian leaders are verbally attacked and threatened legal action if they refuse to solemnize same-sex unions. They are under attack for upholding that the only way of marriage is by two persons, male and female, consenting to be united in the bond of marriage before the Lord.
Stand for what is right in the sight of God. Stand for righteousness. Even if you are persecuted, the Lord promises that he will bless you. Consider it all joy, for the Lord will bless his heirs.
14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled,
