Bowstrings could be tied the tightest and were the toughest to break when new and moist.1 But bowstrings were made from the sinews of animals. Fresh, undried bowstrings come directly from an animal’s fresh corpse. Again, Samson has little regard for his holy calling. He is inviting contact with an object that was unclean for a Nazirite.
7 Samson said to her, “If they bind me with seven fresh bowstrings that have not been dried, then I shall become weak and be like any other man.”
