The animals perk up because of the fresh water. It is so for the wild donkey. The European donkey of today cannot be compared with that of the Orient. The domestic donkeys of Europe are usually small, stubborn, and malicious animals, often considered stupid. In the East the donkey grows into a beautiful, stately, and lively animal.
