1 Kings 3:28 ends the chapter with the reaction of the nation to this judgment and the wisdom that generated it. The outcome of this litigation was so startling that it could not be kept quiet. The news of the trial spread throughout the kingdom. More than that, amazement was on the people because they recognized in Solomon’s judgment a wisdom that came from God and brought about justice.
If 1Kings 3 began with a dubious decision on Solomon’s part to take a foreign wife, indeed the first of such dubious decisions, the chapter ends on a high note and truly a cause for Israel as a nation to rejoice in their king.
28 And all Israel heard of the judgment that the king had rendered, and they stood in awe of the king, because they perceived that the wisdom of God was in him to do justice.
