Two major events in Israel’s history are practically ignored in this entire section of Scripture (1 Chronicles 3:1–24): the exile and the restoration. The only hint of the monarchy was the phrase he…reigned
(1 Chronicles 3:4), so here the only hint of these events is the phrase Jeconiah, the captive
(1 Chronicles 3:17). Much more important for the Chronicler is that the people of Israel, and the line of David in particular, have survived throughout, and the latest of the line, the sons of Elioenai (1 Chronicles 3:24), bring right up to date a story that began with Adam.1
