1 Chronicles 3:1–24 (ESV)

1 These are the sons of David who were born to him in Hebron: the firstborn, Amnon, by Ahinoam the Jezreelite; the second, Daniel, by Abigail the Carmelite,

The chapter neatly divides into three distinct sections:

  1. David's sons born in Hebron and in Jerusalem (1 Chronicles 3:1–9)

  2. Solomon’s descendants (the kings of Judah) up to the exile (1 Chronicles 3:10–16)

  3. the line of Jeconiah (Jehoiachin or Coniah) during and after the exile (David's postexilic descendants; (1 Chronicles 3:17–24)
