The wild donkey laughs at its tame brothers and sisters, who live in town and are ordered around by drivers. How does one explain the difference between the life of the wild donkey and that of its working counterpart? They are from the same species, and yet God has assigned to each its own fate. This is God’s own secret, just as it is his secret why some people prosper while others suffer (Job 21:4–16).
7 He scorns the tumult of the city; he hears not the shouts of the driver.
