Psalm 104:31–35 form an exuberant praise to the Creator. It is also filled with invitations to join in.
It starts with a plea that the splendor, the glory of this great God will continue to shine forever.
Immediately the author adds to this, that the Creator himself may experience joy about all that he has made. After all, in the beginning it was a source of joy for him.
One may think here of what we read in Genesis 1:31a: And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good.
It all fits with the plan of the Creator. All that was made gave the Maker joy.
It is remarkable that the author is silent about what has degenerated through human actions.
Apparently, it is still possible that God can find joy in what He once made to appear. This is for us, people, right away, a strong encouragement to give God the honour he so deserves in all that we say and do. Certainly, man, created in God’s image, is called to this (Genesis 1:26).
