Let man not think small of God’s might. He can shake the mountains on their foundations. He can make them smoke as a flaming torch, as happened once in the Sinai desert, on Mount Horeb. We read in Exodus 19:18, “Now Mount Sinai was wrapped in smoke because the Lord had descended on it in fire. The smoke of it went up like the smoke of a kiln, and the whole mountain trembled greatly” (see also Job 9:5; Psalm 144:5).
This power from God must bring us to a great awe for the Lord.
32 who looks on the earth and it trembles, who touches the mountains and they smoke!
