When Peter used the term “call” here, he certainly did not load his use of the term with all the dogmatic depths that theologians may attach to the concept of “calling.” His use of the term refers simply to the fact that the Lord (through circumstances unknown to us) caused these particular people of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia (1 Peter 1:1) to hear the gospel and embrace it at some point in months and years past.
10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
