Paul’s conversion and membership in the church of God was not because of his skill. He was a sinner deserving of judgement. The fact that Jesus Christ appeared to him on the road to Damascus and called him to be part of his church and serve him as a preacher to the Gentiles was an act of grace and mercy on the part of God. It is not something that Paul deserved.
