Revelation of God the Father

Galatians 2:11–16 (ESV)

11 But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned.

What does Galatians 2:11–16 reveal about who God the Father is?

  • God is just. He requires perfect obedience to his law if one is to be made right in his sight.

  • God is gracious. He made it possible for sinful people to be forgiven and enjoy peace with him by sending his Son Jesus Christ to obey the law in their place and die the death that they deserve.

  • God is gathering a church from all nations. Believers from a Jewish and a Gentile background are part of his people.

  • God is pleased to use means in accomplishing his work. The Lord used Paul to rebuke Peter in the presence of the Antioch church in order to ensure that the good news of Jesus Christ was not changed as a result of Peter’s fear.
