1. Galatians 2:7 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

How did the leaders in Jerusalem come to recognize that Paul had been entrusted with the task of preaching the gospel to the uncircumcised?

Galatians 2:7 (ESV)

7 On the contrary, when they saw that I had been entrusted with the gospel to the uncircumcised, just as Peter had been entrusted with the gospel to the circumcised

The leaders in Jerusalem recognized that God had entrusted Paul with the task of preaching the gospel to the Gentiles. The planting of churches in these regions was clear evidence of Paul’s favour with God and God’s blessing on his work.1 They did not establish Paul’s authority to do so, but acknowledged what was evident in light of his divine commission and meeting with Jesus.2 There was just one gospel shared by Jerusalem and Antioch.3
