The majesty of the ascended Christ is too great for a finite creature as John (see Acts 9:4; Revelation 1:17). To ensure that John would not be overwhelmed by the Sender of this revelation, the exalted Christ used an angel as his intermediary. John himself is described as Jesus’ servant

), who must faithfully communicate to Jesus’ other servants
(Revelation 1:1) all that Jesus shows him through the angel.
