Salvation is either by grace or by human achievement.1 If you tries to earn God’s favour by your own obedience, then you set aside his grace.2 Those who pretend that it is necessary to observe old covenant law in order to be made righteous with God neglect grace and go back to merit. They make Christ’s death to become meaningless.3
21 I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose.
