Why would someone think that the law is opposed to God’s promises?
Galatians 3:21 (ESV)
21Is the law then contrary to the promises of God? Certainly not! For if a law had been given that could give life, then righteousness would indeed be by the law.
Since the law operates on a different principle from the promise (Galatians 3:12), one can be tempted to think that it is opposed to God’s promise. Paul will go on (Galatians 3:22–25) to show why this is not the case.
