In the coming of Christ, and following his work of redemption, the new creation has dawned in the present (see 2 Corinthians 5:14–21). The kingdom of God has not yet come in all its glory, but now we see something of the kingdom as the Spirit is at work in Christian believers to bring forth much fruit (Galatians 5:22–23). 1 Indeed, the outpouring of the Spirit is the gift of the new creation and a mark of its coming (see Isaiah 32:12–18). 2 The new creation will be consummated at the eschaton, when the groaning that characterizes the present (old) creation finally passes away (see Romans 8:18–22). 3
15 For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation.
