1. Galatians 6:8 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

What does it mean to sow to please the sinful nature?

Galatians 6:8 (ESV)

8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.

The notion of sowing to please the sinful nature can be understood in two senses. In the context of giving, it means to withhold the necessary support from faithful pastors and give instead to false teachers. In the context of doing good, it refers to pursuing one’s own sinful and selfish desires, the kind of vices that Paul has previously identified (Galatians 5:19–21). 1
