In three staccato sentences the psalmist names his deliverance. For the first time, the author addresses the Lord directly (Psalm 116:4 also contains a direct sentence uttered to God, but that is a quotation from an earlier prayer).
The first word (for
) can be translated as being a reason (because
), but it can also be interpreted as a highlight (surely, you have

The three short sentences are: You delivered me (my life, my person) from death, my eyes from tears, my foot from stumbling. With this rather extravagant description, the author wants to clarify that the deliverance is complete.
