The goal of your sermon is to encourage God’s people to trust him in their suffering and trials. Remind them that hardships are a test of our faith and that the LORD will continue to care and provide for us. Show how this provision was graciously given to David. Highlight the differences between David and Jesus Christ and emphasise the fact that God’s love is not dependent on our obedience.
