The Lord outlines two consequences for such practices. Firstly, the girl is profaned
(ḥll). That is, she is defiled (see also Leviticus 19:12). Secondly, the entire land becomes filled with depravity
(zimmāh). The same term is used in Leviticus 18:17 to describe the immorality of incest.
