Why does Jesus specifically mention eating and drinking?

Matthew 6:25 (ESV)

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?

Eating and drinking are essential when it comes to sustaining human life. By mentioning these two activities Jesus draws attention to a basic need. He tells his disciples to be confident that God will provide for their basic needs as they focus on pleasing the Father. They must not allow earthly needs to foster any distrust of God.1
