This same word had appeared in Revelation 1:3 (and Revelation 14:13; Revelation 16:15; Revelation 19:9; Revelation 20:6). The term describes being happy, fortunate, specifically due to being on the receiving end of God’s goodness. The Lord himself has shown what he has determined must take place in the period between Christ’s ascension and his return. Recipients of his revelation have a duty to respond. Those who respond appropriately experience happiness, blessedness. They have comfort and an optimistic perspective.
7 “And behold, I am coming soon. Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.”
