Jesus sees them standing there and reacts to their request and says, Go and show yourselves to the priests.
This is a very strange command. For people, who suffered from this terrible skin disease, only went to the priest after they were healed from the disease. The priest would then verify that they were healed indeed (see Leviticus 14:1–20).
But at the moment that these men received the command from Jesus they were still ill. How could they go to the priest (like this)? Yet, they go on their way. That is proof that they fully trusted in the Lord. They trust in what he says. And they will not be disappointed.
They barely started walking away, when they noticed that this terrible skin disease was gone! Their skin is completely clean! Not a trace can be found of this disease that hurt them for a long time and that placed them outside society. It is unbelievable but true. They have been healed!
How surprised these ten men would have been, looking at each other.
14 When he saw them he said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went they were cleansed.
