He is prepared to execute that wrath. As Revelation 19:15, out of His mouth proceeds a sharp sword. The sword, of course, is the primary weapon of war in the Bible times. With this sword
he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron(Revelation 19:15), indicating that this is the ultimate fulfilment of Psalm 2:1–12. That is the Psalm with which you are familiar that prophesied about this Christ: That God would give Him the heathen for His inheritance, andthe uttermost parts of the earthfor His possession, and He wouldbreak them with a rod of ironand He woulddash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel(Psalm 2:8–9). Here now is His rod of iron with which He will dash to pieces the nations of the earth at the end in the battle and judgment with the sword that proceeds out of His mouth. That prophetic psalm, Psalm 2:1–12, included a warning to the kings and nations of the earth regarding this Christ:Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Psalm 2:10–12a, KJV
But the kings of the earth now, at the end of the history of the world, were not wise! Instead of kissing the Son and His beloved bride, they had abused Him and His church. And now His wrath is kindled a little, and He will dash them to pieces like a potter's vessel!1

15 From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty.
