There is much uncertainty about how these verses should be translated. Eliphaz perhaps refers to future humiliations which may come over Job, but over which he will easily triumph. Or he might describe the power that Job will have to lift up others who are humiliated.
In any case, Eliphaz assures Job that if he repents, God will richly reward him for the cleanness
of his hands.
29 For when they are humbled you say, ‘It is because of pride’; but he saves the lowly.
