Our need for the Holy Spirit

Romans 7:1–25 (ESV)

1 Or do you not know, brothers for I am speaking to those who know the law that the law is binding on a person only as long as he lives?

Romans 7:1–25 is necessary for us, to show us that we need the Holy Spirit. Where Romans 8:1–39 shows [the Holy Spirit] is determined that we will be sanctified! God has so much invested in you, dear believer, he is not going to let you go unsanctified. The Holy Spirit is so jealous over your holiness, and so watches over you, and so lives in you and gives you all that you need, that he will grant you power over sin. The Holy Spirit is your great sanctifying Friend. He is the Spirit of Christ. What a blessing God’s people have; having an Advocate, a Lawyer in heaven, representing you. The Person of Christ, every single second, always interceding for you, as if you were his only child, even when he has millions of children around the globe. At the same time, you have a personal Intercessor, an Advocate in your own soul representing you; forming you; moulding you; guiding you; teaching you. So that when the enemy comes, by the power of the Holy Spirit, you may defeat him. Thank God for the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit we have no true religion at all. Romans 7:1–25 teaches us that.1
