Nehemiah 1:5–11 (ESV)

5 And I said, “O LORD God of heaven, the great and awesome God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments,

The prayer consists of four parts:

  1. Invocation (Nehemiah 1:5)

  2. Confession of sin (Nehemiah 1:6–7)

  3. Petition for Israel’s restoration (Nehemiah 1:8–10)

  4. Petition for personal success (Nehemiah 1:11)
