In light of God’s exalted power, Bildad tells Job not to imagine that anyone can be right
before God. Even if Job could state his case before God, he would certainly not win his case.
Bildad is making the same mistake as Eliphaz. He confuses smallness with sinfulness (see Job 4:17; Job 15:14). He also confuses greatness with aloofness. Yes, God is highly exalted. Yet he regards the lowly
(Psalm 138:6).
4 How then can man be in the right before God? How can he who is born of woman be pure?
